About the Founder of DoorStep Chess

I am Christopher Harris, the founder of Doorstep Chess. I have been playing chess since I was three years old and love the game. I have been playing competitively for more than ten years and have an online rating of 1700 on Chess.com.

About a year ago, I decided to teach chess for my summer job and discovered I love teaching chess just as much as I love playing the game. I have continued to teach during the year. In addition to my private clients, I have taught students between the ages of 7 and 14 at the Nehemiah Center and teach a bi-weekly chess class at Baker Ripley.

When I am not teaching or playing chess, I am attending St. John’s School where I am on the Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Track teams, or rock climbing, which I do competitively year-round.
